”Sydänkuu (Heartmonth) was the name the ancient Finns gave to the midwinter months – there were actually two of them, covering a period from Christmas to about February 20. The title of the cello-piano duo refers to the intimate atmosphere and to the time of year when I wrote it. The work was written for Roi Ruottinen and Jerry Jantunen.”
